TechTonic TV – Sierra Harvest and Eco Farm Go Virtual

TechTonic TV this month is all about farming and highlights a local organization doing fantastic work.  One of our favorite events the Tech Connection has been involved with in the past has been AgTech, a conference on farming and technology.  While AgTech is not happening this year our good friends and colleagues at Sierra Harvest are helping host an online edition of the Eco Farm annual conference.  Founded in 1981 when the first EcoFarm Conference was held, EcoFarm has facilitated the inception and continued development of an ecological and just food and farming system.   This online format will facilitate much broader involvement, as Molly Nakahara, farm institute director of Sierra Harvest noted not everyone can get away to attend in person, particularly if they’re full time farmers.

David Carroll from the Tech Connection talked with Molly about the conference, about Sierra Harvest and about how tech is bringing farmers closer together and facilitating growth and development of their businesses.  The conference starts January 20th so there is still time to sign up and participate, and the format means all speakers will be recorded and viewable at your leisure just like we’ve been doing here on TechTonic TV.  Register here for the conference

The Ecological Farming Association (EcoFarm) is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to nurture safe, healthy, just, and ecologically sustainable farms, food systems, and communities by bringing people together for education, alliance building, advocacy, and celebration. EcoFarm has grown into a broad network of grassroots leadership and has facilitated an exchange of knowledge for over 60,000 people. The public is engaged in an ever growing conversation about where our food comes from, who grows it, and who has access to it, and it’s EcoFarm’s goal to translate the commitment for solutions into action.
