Capital Region AR VR Pitch Fest in Sacramento on Aug 29

The 2018 Capital Region AR VR Pitch-Fest event will feature presentations by up to 20 start-up and early-stage augmented reality or virtual reality companies.

The chosen companies will present to panels of judges representing angel investors, venture capitalists, major corporations, health care institutions and governmental entities who have an interest in the VR/AR industry space. The event provides a year’s worth of key contacts in one day for the selected companies.

Companies featured at the Pitch-Fest will learn more about the details of the 2018 Capital Region AR VR Accelerator and have the ability to interact with members of the Selection Committee for the upcoming 2018 cohort which should provide them with a leg-up in the selection process.

Keynote Speaker Tipatat Chennavasin

Tipatat Chennavasin, General Partner with the Venture Reality Fund, will be the keynote speaker. Tipatat Chennavasin is a General Partner of the Venture Reality Fund investing in early stage VR and AR companies.  He has experience creating VR/AR content and became convinced of the power of VR when he accidentally cured himself of his real life fear of heights while developing in VR.  He has established himself as a VR/AR industry spokesperson and thought leader, and has contributed to many publications and presented at various industry events worldwide. He is an advisor for many VR companies as well as a mentor for VR incubators and accelerators around the world.  The VR Fund has looked at over 4,000 startups in the space and invested in 26.

George Foreman Jr to Participate in Pitch Fest

George Foreman Jr. will be an active participant at the Pitch-Fest. Foreman grew up in Sacramento, and attended Kennedy High School, and shares the Capital Region AR VR Accelerator’s vision to help strengthen the environment for success for start-up and early-stage AR and VR companies who are consider locating to or establishing a presence in the Capital region.

George was an executive with Salton (George Foreman Grill), where he leveraged all of his consumer product marketing expertise in live shopping (QVC, HSN) and e-commerce. George formed Foreman Boys Promotions with legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum and George Foreman Sr. where George promoted 20 World Title Fights,10 HBO World Title Fights, 3 HBO PPV Fights including 3 Co-Promoted Manny Pacquiao Fights. George’s experience with boxing promotions allowed him to understand live events, technology, broadcasting, casino gaming and hospitality as a business on a global stage.

George has extensive knowledge in media and television having served as Executive Producer on various television programs including American Inventor (ABC), Family Foreman (TV Land) and the Foreman Documentary that was distributed through EPIX Networks, Universal and Hulu.

Pitch-Fest event registration is for spectators only. AR and VR start-up companies interested in being considered to be a presenting company at the AR VR Pitch-Fest should submit an executive summary and/or fundraising deck via email or fill out the online application for the Accelerator. Attendance at the Pitch-Fest is free but seating is limited.
