About Gil
Gil Mathew is a long-time community leader and the Executive Director of the Nevada County Economic Resource Council (ERC), where he works to strengthen economic vitality, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support business growth throughout Nevada County. With a deep commitment to rural economic development, Gil helps guide initiatives that advance workforce readiness, small business success, local industry innovation, and long-term community resilience.
A skilled facilitator and relationship-builder, Gil is known for bringing together public agencies, private industry, educational partners, and nonprofit organizations to align around shared goals. Under his leadership, the ERC has expanded its impact through programs such as the Economic Summit, the Nevada County Economic Index, business onboarding and support services, and regional initiatives connected to California Jobs First.
Beyond his professional role, Gil has been an active and dedicated member of the community for many years. He is deeply involved with Rotary and frequently volunteers his time to local causes and civic efforts. Outside of work, he enjoys socializing with friends and spending quality time with his wife, Kathy.
Rooted in Grass Valley and committed to the future of Nevada County, Gil brings experience, integrity, and a collaborative spirit to every part of his work.
