Virtual Reality in the Workplace

Virtual reality was once an idea associated with the far future; it is now a technology that is implemented in our lives. It is used in education, training, designing, therapy, exercise and fitness, marketing, gaming, and several more uses. Virtual reality allows people to explore advanced hypothetical situations in a simulated setting. Nearly every industry can find a way to utilize VR technology to save time, achieve more, and explore all possibilities. With the technology being fully embraced by various industries, what kinds of jobs does virtual reality create?

Elena Titova outlines seven new career possibilities that have been introduced by VR technology. Some of the jobs on this list include 360-video producers, game developers, UI/UX designer, therapy and addiction treatment careers, and law firms concerned primarily with virtual reality, such as copyright issues.

While various jobs will remain the same, many more workers will have to adapt their general practices for their roles to accommodate the technology. For example, licensed therapists using VR technology need to use their practical skills along with a strong knowledge of the technology to benefit their clients the most. There will be an increased need for programmers and developers to keep up with the rising popularity of the technology. Having transferable skills in PC and cell phone programming are a necessity in succeeding in a developer career that is rooted in virtual reality technology.

New jobs that use VR technology are inevitable, and training people to implement the technology will result in more and more innovation. All in all, virtual reality technology is a tool that lets workers do their job better.
