Construction

In the latter years of the 20th Century, and continuing into the early 21st Century, the construction industry in Nevada County grew at a very rapid pace. Jobs were created throughout the construction trades to meet the demand for commercial and residential growth. The majority of this growth occurred in/around Truckee during this period. The slowdown in the housing market which began in the 2006 timeframe has resulted in a tapering off of the growth in this industry. As with any economic cycle, this slowdown is expected to pass, and a resurgence is anticipated to occur in the future.
